THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Legal Metrology Department conducted surprise inspections throughout the state. The Legal Metrology Department has disclosed details of the inspections conducted between August 17 and August 28. The inspections were overseen by the Joint Controllers of Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, and Kozhikode.
According to officials from the Legal Metrology Department, a total of 746 cases were registered for the sale of products using unstamped weighing instruments. Additionally, 220 cases were reported for the sale of packets without proper declarations under the Packaged Commodities Act, while 125 cases involved the sale of packet goods without registration. Furthermore, 37 cases were identified for falsification of quantity and weight, and 29 cases for charging excessive prices.
Furthermore, the Metrology Department also conducted inspections at petrol pumps across the state.
