In Wayanad, Adivasi Gothra Sabha extends support to NDA: Withdraws their candidate to support Thushar Vellappally

Kalpetta: In a surprise twist to the election campaign in Wayanad constituency, the Adivasi Gothra Sabha, which is a party constituted by 20 tribal communities and works for their welfare, have extended their support to the NDA. They have also withdrawn their candidate, Biju Kakkathodu, from the race to help Thushar Vellappally, the NDA candidate.

Wayanad, the constituency that Rahul Gandhi chose to contest in addition to Amethi, has a considerable tribal population. Development is a distant dream to most of the tribal population in Wayanad. They have been ignored by both the ruling and opposition parties of Kerala for decades.

Biju Kakkathodu, the Adivasi Gothra Sabha candidate, said that only a win for Thushar Vellappally can bring national attention to the plight of tribals living in the constituency. He added that this is the reason why he withdrew from the contest and extended his party’s support to NDA.

Thushar Vellappally said that with the support of Adivasi Gothra Sabha, the NDA can make a huge headway into the tribal population of Wayanad.
