BJP candidates faces threats and attacks in Kerala: Alleged bid to prevent Modi’s speech, attacks in Wayanad, Def Minister’s convoy blocked

Thiruvananthapuram: BJP and its alliance partners are facing stiff resistance in Kerala election campaign from both the ruling communist party and opposition Congress and Muslim League workers.

Today, BJP State General Secretary, M. T. Ramesh, levelled serious allegations against the CPI(M) government for trying to prevent the Prime Minister from speaking in Thiruvananthapuram yesterday. Just before Narendra Modi arrived a pistol of a policeman went off. The incident took place near the stage and is considered a serious security lapse.

Even after 24 hours the government has not done any investigations into the incident that put the Prime Minister’s life at risk.

Earlier, some miscreants tried to block the convoy of the Defence Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman.

Just hours ago, around 200 Muslim League activists attacked NDA candidate of Wayanad, Thushar Vellappally, and destroyed the windshield of his car. Many NDA workers have sustained injuries in the attack.

Wayanad is a constituency with strong presence of Congress ally, Muslim League, and this is one of the prime reasons that Rahul Gandhi is contesting from there.

NDA leaders believe that Thushar Vellappally has proved to be a tough candidate for Rahul Gandhi and this has agitated the Congress and its ally Muslim League.

A few days ago, goons belonging to the CPI(M) attacked the BJP candidate of Attingal, Sobha Surendran, while she was campaigning with a group of BJP workers. Even after lodging a formal complaint, the police are adopting a lethargic attitude to investigate the matter. Sobha Surendran latter conducted a sit-in in front of the police station.

The NDA has made huge strides in the State even after strong resistance by both the ruling and opposition fronts. Both CPI(M) and Congress fear the rise of NDA as the third force in the State politics.
