PALAKKAD: The KSRTC State Transport Employees Sangh (KSTES) has raised concerns regarding the investigation into the alleged embezzlement of funds from the Palakkad KSRTC Budget Tourism Cell, expressing suspicion that only one conductor has been held accountable for the wrongdoing.
PK Baiju, the State Secretary of KSTES, stated that only a portion of the embezzlement has been brought to light so far. The KSTES is urging a thorough investigation to be conducted to determine the extent of the fraudulent activity, as it is unlikely that the KSRTC bus conductor acted alone in this matter. Baiju made these remarks during an interview with Janam TV.
This call for further investigation follows the suspension of K. Vijayashankar, who held the positions of conductor and tourism budget cell coordinator at the Palakkad unit. He was suspended in connection with the alleged embezzlement of Rs. 1,21,110 through the use of fake receipt books.
The Budget Tourism initiative commenced on November 15, 2021, at the Palakkad Depot. Irregularities in financial transactions related to Wayanad and Gavi tour trips prompted a vigilance inquiry, which has now expanded to cover all cash transactions associated with the Budget Tourism Cell.
