THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Shocking information has come to light after the arrest of a Malayali IS terrorist named Nabeel, who had planned a terror attack in Kerala with the aim of conducting state-wide attacks.
IS terrorist Sayed Nabeel Ahmmed disclosed that their plan included looting temples in Thrissur and Palakkad and attacking Christian priests. Nabeel established contact with IS terrorists from Qatar.
Operating under the cover of a covert operation, information about the terror activities was transmitted through a Telegram group called ‘Pet Lovers,’ serving as a code word.
Their scheme involved brainwashing, recruiting, and training Malayali youngsters for IS terroris. The investigative team has also identified the name and other details of the Christian priest who was targeted by the IS terrorists.
Nabeel was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) recently after thwarting the attempt to strengthen the IS group in Kerala. It is reported that more individuals may be arrested in connection with this incident.
Nabeel was arrested while hiding in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The NIA informed the court that Nabeel played a key role in planning the terror attack. The terrorist has been remanded in NIA custody until the 16th.
The investigation into this case is ongoing, and there are indications that further arrests may take place in the coming days.
Ashif, also known as Ashraf (36), a native of Kodayil in Thrissur, was arrested by the NIA last July, which ultimately led to Nabeel’s arrest.
