Kozhikode: In a concerning development, another case of the Nipah virus was confirmed in Kozhikode on Friday. The infected individual, a 39-year-old man, is currently under observation and receiving medical care. He is known to have visited a private hospital where individuals previously sought treatment for Nipah. With this latest case, the total number of Nipah patients in the state has risen to four.

In response to the growing threat of Nipah, a high-level meeting is scheduled to be held today, spearheaded by key Ministers including Veena George, Mohammad Riyas, Ahamed Devarkovil, and AK Saseendran. This meeting, set to commence at 10 a.m., aims to comprehensively assess the evolving situation regarding the spread of the Nipah virus.

The Health Department, in collaboration with relevant authorities, has already initiated precautionary measures in response to the Nipah outbreak. Should the number of individuals infected with the virus continue to rise, the Health Department has confirmed plans to establish isolation wards. Importantly, these isolation facilities will also be made available in private hospitals, further ensuring that all patients receive the necessary care.
