Thiruvananthapuram: Higher Education Minister R Bindu criticized Alencier’s remarks during 53rd Kerala State Film Awards 2022 function held by Chalachitra Academy at the Nishagandhi Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday, September 14. The minister said that Alencier’s reaction was unfortunate and was an expression of patriarchal consciousness. The minister added that such reactions should not be encouraged on the stage.
Actor Alencier is facing a lot of criticism for his anti-women remarks at the 53rd Kerala State Film Awards 2022 function at the Nishagandhi Auditorium. Though actor Alencier’s unscrupulous remarks that ‘the female sculptures presented to the winners were tempting’ created a huge uproar, Alencier said that he will not back down from his anti-women remarks. Alencier argued that female sculptures should be replaced with male ones.
Alencier had received a Special Jury Award for his performance in the movie ‘Appan’ from Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. In his speech after receiving the award, Alencier said: “Do not tempt us by giving woman trophies. In a state with a manly chief minister, give us a sculpture with man’s strength.”
Alencier further said that the recipients of the Special Jury mention equally deserve a prestigious golden sculpture since their achievement is indeed “special.” He went on to add that the cash award was not sufficient. “Do not insult us by giving Rs 25,000, please increase the reward.”
