Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning for isolated heavy rain in the state of Kerala today, leading to the declaration of a yellow alert in six districts. Residents are urged to exercise caution and be prepared for adverse weather conditions. The yellow alert has been sounded in the following districts: Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kannur, and Kasaragod.
In addition to heavy rain, there is also a warning of high waves and a storm surge along the Kerala coast. Fishermen and coastal residents have been advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their property.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Centre has reported the possibility of high waves ranging from 0.6 to 2.0 metres along the Kerala coast until 6:30 p.m. today. These conditions may persist through September 17 and 18, with thundershowers and strong winds expected in isolated areas.
Looking ahead, the Indian Meteorological Department has forecast a continued chance of rain accompanied by thunder and lightning on September 19 and 21.
