Ernakulam: Girish Babu, a petitioner in corruption cases, including one involving alleged ‘monthly payments,’ was found dead at his residence in Kalamassery. He had been undergoing prolonged medical treatment for health issues, and initial reports indicate that the cause of death was a heart attack.
Girish Babu was widely recognised as a dedicated public activist who played a pivotal role in exposing the Palarivattom scandal to the public eye and instigating an investigation into it. His plea, requesting a vigilance inquiry into the corruption case related to the monthly payments of the Chief Minister’s daughter, Veena Vijayan, was pending in court.
After the Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court rejected his petition for an investigation into the monthly payment corruption case, Girish Babu appealed to the High Court. Tragically, his passing occurred on the very day the High Court was scheduled to hear the case.
