Kottayam: The MG University campus has been shut down as a result of an outbreak of fever in the hostels. All academic departments within the university campus will remain closed until September 30. The hostels were closed in response to a rising number of fever cases among the residents.
Online classes will be conducted until September 30, with regular in-person classes resuming on October 3. Classes at the School of Legal Department, which operates independently from the university’s main campus, will proceed as scheduled. University officials have assured that there will be no disruptions to the office activities of the institution.
Moreover, because of continuous rainfall in various regions of the state, numerous individuals, both young and elderly, have contracted fever and other diseases. Additionally, the recurrence of the Nipah virus in Calicut for the fourth time has instilled fear among the residents of Kerala. These circumstances, combined with the outbreak of fever in the hostels, are probably the factors leading MG University to temporarily close its campus.
