Thiruvananthapuram: K. Surendran, the state president of the BJP, expressed his condolences on the passing of the renowned filmmaker KG George. “KG George was a director who etched a lasting place in the hearts of Malayalees through his outstanding films. A genius who garnered state and national awards, he paved a unique path in the world of Malayalam cinema,” remarked Surendran.

KG George’s cinematic masterpiece, ‘Panchavadipalam,’ remains relevant even in the contemporary landscape. Surendran emphasised that all of George’s films, including ‘Swapnadanam,’ ‘Yavanika,’ and ‘Adaminte Vaariyellu,’ possess their own distinct features.  He further conveyed that KG George’s demise is an irreplaceable loss to the Malayalam film industry, and he joins in sharing the grief of the filmmaker’s family and ardent admirers.

KG George passed away at the Kakkanadu Old Age Home in Ernakulam at the age of 77. With a directorial portfolio of 20 films and the recipient of nine state awards, he was bestowed with the prestigious JC Daniel Award by the state government in 2015.
