Kozhikode: A 17-year-old girl was stabbed by a young man in Kozhikode’s Kallachi, reportedly due to her family’s decision to back out of a proposed marriage. The attack occurred yesterday evening.
The assailant has been identified as Arshad, a native of Vanimal , Kozhikode, who recently returned to India after working in Qatar for six months. Arshad had previously proposed marriage to the teenage girl, and at one point, the two parties had agreed to the union. Later, the girl’s family decided to withdraw from the proposed marriage.
According to the police, it is believed that Arshad, overwhelmed by anger, attempted to take the life of the young girl. The victim, a student, had just finished her college classes and was on her way home when the incident occurred.
Arshad intercepted the girl on the road, subjected her to a violent assault, and stabbed her with a knife. The victim’s cries for help attracted the attention of nearby residents, who rushed to her aid and managed to apprehend Arshad. They swiftly handed him over to the authorities.
Law enforcement officials immediately launched an investigation into the attack, registering a case of attempted murder against Arshad.
