Kottayam: CITU leader, KR Ajayan, sought apology in an open court for assaulting a bus owner. The leader asked for forgiveness from the court and from the bus owner. With this apology, the High Court has closed the contempt of court case against the communist leader.

Even though the bus owner, Raj Mohan, requested the court not to accept the apology plea, the court ruled the case closed after Ajayan gave an apology. In the affidavit, submitted by Ajayan, he requested that the contempt of case be withdrawn against him as there is already a criminal case against him in connection with Raj Mohan.

Ajayan said that when he was added to the contempt of court case, his address was given as Motor Mechanic Union, Kottayam District Secretary. However, Ajayan, said that he is not a member of that organization. He informed that he is currently the panchayat member of Thiruvarpu panchayat

Justice N Nagresh had taken contempt of court case against Ajayan, for violating an interim order and attacking Raj Mohan.

The incident which led to the CITU leader, Ajayan’s apology begins on June 25. In a labour dispute, the CITU had hoisted its flags on Vettikullangara bus, which plies between Thiruvarpu and Kottayam. Following this, the bus owner, Raj Mohan, began to sell lotteries in front of his bus as a form of protest against CITU’s actions.

Later, Raj Mohan approached the court and got permission to resume the bus service. With the court’s order, Raj Mohan proceeded to remove the CITU flags hoisted on his bus in the presence of the police. At that moment, CITU leader, Ajayan, attacked Raj Mohan, while the police looked on.

Raj Mohan, who is also a BJP Mandalam leader, went to Kummarakkom police station with other BJP activists and protested demanding the arrest of Ajayan. The protests by BJP activists led to the arrest of Ajayan and his subsequent release on bail.

Raj Mohan is an ex-service man and an entrepreneur.
