The only barrier to religious conversion in South India is Sabarimala Ayyappan: Valsan Thillankeri

Pathanamthitta: Hindu Aikya Vedi leader Valsan Thillankeri said that attempts at religious conversion are made by disparaging Sanatana Dharma. He pointed out that in South India, the only barrier to religious conversions is Lord Ayyappa of Sabarimala. Thillankeri delivered a keynote address today during the ritual protection day event, which coincides with the fifth anniversary of the protest against the entry of women into Sabarimala. The event was organized by the Temple Ritual Protection Committee and took place at the Pandalam Valiyakoikal Sreedharma Shasta Temple.

According to him, the Hindu society appears to be negligent of the lessons from past deceitful actions. He further emphasized that it was the believers of Pandalam who gave strength to the believers all over Kerala to protect sacred rituals. He posed a question, asking who should be held accountable if there is any discrimination within the temple governed by the communist in Kannur. He concluded that the objective of such propaganda is to foster misunderstandings and conflicts.

Sasikumara Varma, a representative of Pandalam Palace, who delivered the presidential speech, said that there is a need to re-establish the ritual protection committee which had formed five years ago. After the situations that developed during and after the Namajapa Yatra in Thiruvananthapuram, there was a feeling that the government had taken a step backward. But the cases against those who participated in the Namajapa Yatra are still not withdrawn. Sasikumara Varma said that one should not become a Hindu by name alone but also through his deeds.

Akkeraman Kalidasan Bhattathiripad said that the government is now eyeing the Devaswom gold. He mentioned that the lamp was placed as a customary practice during the worship rituals. He urged the public to determine the course of action regarding those who raised concerns about untouchability. He also pointed out that there is an intellectual hierarchy at play, misinterpreting these rituals. Chanting of hymns was held here from 10 am and ritual protection meeting was held from 11 am.
