Kochi: Kerala High Court ordered to take action against vloggers who were found promoting use of modified vehicles. The State Police and Motor Vehicles Department have been asked to take appropriate action against certain vloggers who post vlogs on YouTube and other online media promoting the use of modified vehicles, including buses with LED lights.
The division bench comprising Justice Anil K Narendran and Justice PG Ajithkumar ordered to take action against the owners and drivers of such vehicles.
It is also suggested that strict action should be taken against vehicles including government vehicles used in public places without complying with the safety norms of AIS-008, an act by the Automotive Industry Standard for Installation Requirements of Lighting and Light – Signalling Devices for Motor Vehicle having more than Three Wheels including Quadricycles, Trailer and SemiTrailer excluding Agricultural Tractors . The court’s directive comes after it reviewed photographs and video evidence of modified vehicles being promoted on YouTube by vloggers like ‘AJ Tourist Bus Lover,’ ‘Nazru Vlogger,’ ‘Najeeb Zainuls,’ and ‘Motor Vlogger.’
The court has ruled that a fine of Rs. 5,000 should be imposed for each unauthorized alteration made to a vehicle. This judgment was rendered in response to a suo moto case initiated based on a report submitted by the Sabarimala Special Commissioner.
