Eleven new railway flyovers approved in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has granted permission for the construction of 11 railway flyovers across the state. The announcement was made by Finance Minister KN Balagopal in a press conference, where he outlined the locations of the proposed flyovers, spanning six districts.

The locations for the new flyovers include Kannur Kannapuram, Cherukunnu, Muzhappilangad Beach, Mukkam, Thrissur Velukutty/Attoor Gate, Ollur, Kozhikode Vellayil Beach, Kottayam Kothanalloor, Kollam Edakulangara, Polayathode, and Thiruvananthapuram Azhur.

The total estimated cost for land acquisition and bridge construction at these flyover sites is Rs 77.65 crore. To fund these projects, Rs 48.38 crore had previously been sanctioned. However, in a recent press conference, Finance Minister KN Balagopal announced an additional allocation of Rs 34.26 crore, making it possible to proceed with the projects.
