KOZHIKODE: A jewellery shop owner has filed a case against DYFI leader and his wife, accusing them of cheating and purchasing gold worth 43.4 lakh rupees.
The jewellery shop owner, hailing from Thalayolaparambu in Vadakara, Kozhikode district, lodged a complaint that DYFI leader Krishnendhu and CPI(M) activist Ananthanunni duped them by making false claims of arranging marriages for impoverished women as part of a social initiative. In pursuit of this, the couple purchased gold valued at Rs 43.4 lakh but paid only a nominal amount and provided a promissory note.
The jewellery shop owner also claimed that despite the complaint, police investigations have been progressing slowly.
Furthermore, there is a pending case against Krishnendhu and a colleague Devi Prajit for looting Rs 42 lakh from a private financial institution. There have been numerous allegations that, despite facing serious financial accusations, the police have not even questioned the accused due to political influence.
However, the CPI(M) party has informed that disciplinary action has been taken against both individuals.
In the meantime, the police have informed that they have intensified their investigation efforts, but the accused are absconding .
