ERNAKULAM: Today, the Kerala High Court will hear the appeal of the crime branch, seeking the cancellation of the bail granted to Malayalam actor Dileep in the case of sexual assault against an actress.
The crime branch alleges that Dileep violated the conditions of his bail and attempted to influence witnesses.
In the meantime, the Kerala government informed that the Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court, which had previously rejected the petition, made its decision regarding the crime branch’s application without a thorough examination of the evidence. The court also did not consider a voice message as evidence against Dileep.
At the same time, the trial court determined that the evidence presented by the prosecution was not authentic. Consequently, the government has appealed to the Kerala High Court, seeking the cancellation of Dileep’s bail.
Earlier, the High Court had appointed Adv. Ranjith Marar as an amicus curiae to assist in the case. However, the appointment was withdrawn by the High Court after the prosecution informed the court that Adv. Ranjith Marar and Actor Dileep had a friendly relationship.

On July 10, 2017, Dileep was arrested by the Kerala Police for alleged sexual harassment against an actress. He was later released on conditional bail by the Kerala High Court on October 3, 2017. In June 2018, he filed a petition with the Kerala High Court, accusing the Kerala Police of deliberately framing him.
