Thiruvananthapuram: Many in the CPI(M) are not happy with former Health Minister, KK Shailaja, for dubbing Hamas as terrorists. Following the attack by Hamas terrorists on Israeli soil and killing innocent women, children and elderly, KK Shailaja, condemned the Hamas terrorists’ attack on Israel on her Facebook page. However, she made it a point to blame Israel for the plight of Palestinians since 1948, on her social media post.
Soon her social media post was filled with criticisms against her for referring Hamas as a terrorist organization. The cyber comrades criticized her by saying that Hamas members are freedom fighters and some even equated them with Indian freedom fighters. However, these social media users do not speak about the Hamas terrorists killing of innocent women, children and elderly in the deadly attack against Israel.
Sliding into the controversy, former Minister and CPI(M) MLA, KT Jaleel, today, posted a statement on his Facebook page, which many consider is a veiled response to KK Shailaja’s post. In his social media post, he said that if Hamas are terrorists then Israel is a bigger terrorist. He also added that what Israel is doing to Palestinians is just what Hitler did to the Jews.
Interestingly, KT Jaleel, was a follower of the now banned Student’s Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). He then shifted to Muslim League before joining the CPI(M). He was accused of links to the gold smuggling case in Kerala that still continues to rattle Kerala politics.
