Idukki: CPI(M) leader MM Mani scolded the Panchayat President after seeing empty chairs when he came to Koottar for an inauguration. The incident took place during the open stage inauguration of Karunapuram Grama Panchayat.
“You need to gather people before organising the program, but nothing has been done. We are funding the project. So, while conducting the program, you should show the courtesy of gathering people for the program. Not just make some kind of arrangement. I have a strong difference of opinion on this matter.”
MLA MM Mani expressed his dissatisfaction with the Panchayat President, stating that as a Panchayat President, she did not extend the common courtesy as expected.
After this, MM Mani left the venue announcing that the stage had been inaugurated. But panchayat president Mini Prince said that the low turnout was due to the inaugural meeting starting earlier than scheduled. The MLA arrived before the specified time and insisted on starting the function. The time was fixed at six o’clock. But the MLA arrived at 5.15. Mini Prince said that this was the reason the ceremony had to be held in an empty venue.
