New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways has officially announced the inclusion of a stop at Chengannur for the Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuaram Vande Bharat Express. This significant decision comes after Union Minister of State for External Affairs, V Muraleedharan, intervened to advocate for this addition. The Ministry of Railways has issued an order granting approval for the Vande Bharat Express to make a stop at Chengannur.

V Muraleedharan brought forth the proposal, initially presented by the Alappuzha BJP district unit, to the attention of the Union Railway Minister. He also emphasised that allowing the train to stop at Chengannur would be particularly beneficial to Sabarimala pilgrims.

In response to the railway approval, Muraleedharan expressed his gratitude to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for his compassionate consideration of the request.
