Alappuzha: Union Minister V. Muraleedharan has announced that the ongoing complaints of delays faced by other train services due to Vande Bharat’s scheduled stops will be effectively resolved through a comprehensive reform of the railway timetable. He stressed the importance of adding a stop for Vande Bharat at Chengannur, well in advance of the Sabarimala pilgrimage season. Chengannur holds immense significance as a hub for Sabarimala pilgrims, and enabling this stop prior to the Mandalam period (the auspicious 41 days of Sabarimala pilgrimage), is expected to offer significant advantages to pilgrims from all corners of the nation.
Meanwhile, Vande Bharat will also have a stop at Chengannur from today onwards. When Vande Bharat, operating from Thiruvananthapuram via Kottayam, arrived at Chengannur on Mahanavami, it received a warm welcome under the leadership of Union Minister V. Muraleedharan. The ceremony was also attended by BJP Alappuzha District President MV Gopakumar, MP Kodikunnil Suresh, and other dignitaries.
Union Minister V. Muraleedharan had earlier drawn the attention of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to the pressing need for Vande Bharat to make a stop at Chengannur. Following this persuasive recommendation, Vande Bharat was subsequently granted permission to include Chengannur as one of its stops.
