THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior CPI(M) leader AK Balan has come forward to justify Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s daughter, Veena Vijayan, in the ‘monthly payment’ controversy. Balan stated that Veena Vijayan’s receipt of funds from the black soil company Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) is in exchange for legitimate services.
Balan claimed that Veena Vijayan does not receive a ‘monthly payment.’ He cited the situation in which the income tax department discovered that Veena Vijayan had paid the Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) for her company, Exalogic Solutions.
In his supporting statement, Balan emphasized that no one with sound mind could believe that Veena Vijayan collected a ‘monthly payment.’ Additionally, AK Balan demanded that Mathew Kuzhalnadan issue an apology to Veena Vijayan.
Balan asserted, “If Kuzhalnadan intends to continue in public service, he should offer an apology. I have the affidavit from CMRL, acknowledging that they received the services as per the two agreements they signed with Exalogic Solutions.”
Simultaneously, Mathew Kuzhalnadan responded, reaffirming the statements he had earlier made. He emphasized that the real issue revolves around the money Veena and Exalogic received for services they did not provide, with the GST payment being only a secondary concern. Kuzhalnadan added, “Once I receive further details from the letter sent by the finance department, there will be more clarity. After my perspective is heard, the public can decide whether I should issue an apology.”
