ERNAKULAM: DGP Sheikh Darvesh Sahib has confirmed that the bomb blast that occurred at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Convention Center in Kalamassery was preplanned.
While addressing the media, the DGP also stated that an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) was used in the blast. He added that further details will only be provided after the ongoing investigation. Those responsible for the incident will be brought to justice.
He further mentioned that a special investigation team will be formed for this purpose. The police discovered that the explosive device was concealed inside a tiffin box.
Additionally, he cautioned the public against sharing unverified news on social media regarding the bomb blast and emphasized that the police would take strict action against those spreading fake news.
A team from the NIA is currently at the scene, and it is likely that the NIA will take over the investigation. The Union government has reportedly directed the NSG team to conduct its own investigation.
The Union government is treating this morning’s unexpected incident with utmost seriousness.
