Kochi: The bomb blasts that struck a Christian denomination, Jehova Witness, gathering at Kalamassery has completely burned up the body of the victim. The charred remains of the victim has been identified as a female and no other information is available at the moment. It is believed that the woman had come to take part in the convention held by the Jehova Witness.
About 2500 persons were attending the meeting when the bomb blasts occurred at around 9.30 today morning. Around 35 persons have been injured with the condition of six persons said to be critical. Some of the injured are reported to have 50% of burns on their bodies.
The NIA have begun its investigation into the bomb blasts, which is suspected to be an act of terror. However, no official confirmation on that has come.
Four blasts occurred just a few moments after the prayer meeting began. The meeting, which began on Friday, was scheduled to conclude today. The police have issued high alert in the state following the blasts.
