Kochi: The police have confirmed that Dominic Martin was the sole perpetrator of the Kalamassery bomb explosion. They said that Martin both constructed the bomb and carried out the explosion independently, and there is no supporting evidence indicating any outside assistance. The police said that this came to light after questioning the accused in detail. Martin’s interrogation is ongoing at the AR camp in Kalamassery.
The improvised explosive device (IED) was concealed within a plastic casing. The accused revealed to the police that the bomb’s composition included petrol, crackers and batteries, and that it was triggered using a remote control. He said that the bomb was made the previous day of the blast in a house in Kochi. Moreover, being a foreman, Martin also possessed technical expertise. He stated that he learned more information about this from YouTube. The police said they will check his YouTube login information for further details regarding this.
However, the police are not completely taking the statements of the accused into consideration as they have many doubts about the incident. The police are particularly doubtful whether Dominic Martin would commit such a big atrocity out of a grudge against the church. Martin and his family reside on the second floor of a house located on Felix Road, near Thammanam Junction in Kochi. Martin has been living in this house on rent for more than five years. He has a wife, a daughter who works at Infopark and a son who is studying in England. The Police is currently looking into Martin’s past history to find out if any personal grudge is behind the incident.
A series of explosions rocked the international convention center in Kalamassery. The venue had been hosting members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, a minority Christian group, for the concluding day of their three-day prayer meeting. The death toll in the blast has risen to three so far. Many people have sustained injuries, with some still in critical condition.
