Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s Transport Minister, Antony Raju, has expressed strong opposition to the ongoing private bus strike. He accused the bus owners and said that the bus owners are trying to exert pressure by launching an indefinite strike during the Sabarimala season. The Minister not only criticised the indefinite strike but also firmly stated that he would not accept it.
The strike has significantly impacted transportation services in central Kerala and north Kerala, meanwhile, private buses were operated in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
Meanwhile, the transport department has revised its order concerning the mandatory installation of seat belts and cameras in buses and heavy vehicles. Under the new order, vehicles must have seat belts and cameras installed, but the mandate will apply only to those vehicles submitted fitness certificates after November 1.
