THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A case of substantial embezzlement was registered at ICICI Bank in Thiruvananthapuram. According to police reports, the bank’s branch manager and some of employees have collectively embezzled funds deposited by customers.
The modus operandi of the looting involved providing fake transaction receipts, falsely indicating that the loan had been repaid.
The Thiruvananthapuram Museum police have registered a fraud case against ICICI bank’s Vazhuthacaud branch.
In an exclusive report on this banking fraud, Janam TV has obtained a copy of the First Information Report (FIR). According to the report, ICICI Bank’s Deputy Manager at Thiruvananthapuram’s Vazhuthacaud branch, Kiran, allegedly siphoned off an amount of approximately Rs 50 lakhs by issuing fake counterfeit bank receipts in relation to loan repayments.
This is not an isolated incident, as there have been previous cases of a similar nature, according to one of the victims.
In response to the complaint, the Thiruvananthapuram Museum police have registered a case against ICICI Bank’s Vazhuthacaud branch and Deputy Manger Kiran , charging the bank with cheating, forgery, and dishonesty.
In light of numerous frauds reported within cooperative banks in Kerala, significant financial irregularities are also being witnessed within private banks in the state. Consequently, the public is increasingly calling on the Kerala government to take stringent action against such instances of fraud involving private banks as well.
