Thiruvananthapuram: In a significant operation, the Excise Special Squad has exposed a substantial drug trade operation operating under the guise of a tattoo center in the state capital. The illegal activities were brought to light when authorities seized a considerable quantity of MDMA from the Step Up Tattoo Studio, situated near SS Kovil Road in Thampanoor. The confiscated MDMA weighed a total of 78.78 grams and is estimated to have a street value of approximately Rs. 3 lakh.
Two individuals, identified as Majeendran from Rajajinagar and Shone Aji from Peringamala, have been apprehended in connection with the incident. Excise Circle Inspector Shibu revealed that the MDMA seizure followed a tip-off regarding the sale of drugs within the tattoo center’s premises. It has been uncovered that the distribution of MDMA was restricted to loyal and regular tattoo clients.
Furthermore, there are reports suggesting that the main accused, Majeendran, may have been involved in the sale of MDMA at other locations, including Manaveeyam Center. Consequently, authorities are planning to conduct extensive inspections throughout the capital city in the coming days to root out any additional illegal drug operations.
