Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has voiced his criticism about the Kerala government’s expenditure on projects like Keraleeyam, especially during a time of financial crisis. He criticized the government for its apparent extravagance despite the worsening economic situation in the state. Governor accused the Pinarayi government of using public funds to construct swimming pools. Governor’s comments came in response to questions from the media regarding the state government’s decision to approach the Supreme Court to challenge his refusal to sign certain bills.

Governor Khan emphasized that anyone can approach the Supreme Court if there are concerns about the constitutionality of actions. He affirmed his commitment to fulfilling his responsibilities and providing answers when called upon by the court. He also pointed out that the government should have sought his assent before passing the University bill and noted that the Chief Minister should have explained the bill, which did not happen. He asserted that his position would remain unchanged until the Chief Minister addressed the matter, and he criticized the government for overstepping constitutional boundaries.

Governor Khan also brought attention to the issue of pensions, noting that the Pinarayi government has not been disbursing them. Highlighting the financial hardships faced by the state, the governor pointed out that the government itself has acknowledged the challenging financial situation in its submission to the High Court.
