Thiruvananthapuram: Government initiated night life center, Manaveeyam Veedhi, witnessed yet another brawl involving anti-social elements and the police. A group of people under the influence of alcohol pelted stones at police. A young lady got injured in the scuffle between two groups. The police have arrested four individuals.

The incident occurred at midnight yesterday. The police had given instructions to switch off the microphones in response to a previous day’s scuffle. However, a group of individuals did not heed the police instruction. After this, two groups got into heated arguments and a fight ensued.

When the police intervened in the matter, the fight escalated. The group began to throw chairs at the police and latter resorted to stone pelting.

A young woman, Raji, a native of Nettayam, got injured in the stone pelting and was immediately taken to a private hospital in Peroorkkada.

Manaveeyam Veedhi, which was touted as the first night life center by the government has turned into a headache. People, who visit the area under the influence of alcohol is creating most of the fights.

These anti-social elements are creating problems for others by creating constant issues in the area. These problems are making it difficult for the artists who go there to perform. This is also an issue for common people who reach the area to meet and spend time with friends.

It has only been two weeks since the government initiated the night life at Manaveekiyam Veedhi. Since then it has become a challenge to the government and the Corporation. The situation at Manaveeyam Veedhi is such that it warrants immediate response from the government.
