Kannur: In a recent incident, a female wild elephant gave birth in a farmland in Peruva, Kolayad, specifically in an arecanut farm owned by Jayan, a resident of Parakkund colony. The incident occurred last day. Upon learning of the event, forest department personnel arrived and initiated efforts to guide the herd of wild elephants back into the forest.
However, the Forest Department has issued a warning, stating that there is a likelihood of wild elephant herds camping in the area until the newborn elephant is able to walk proficiently. Over the past week, wild elephants have been causing significant damage to crops in the region.
