THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Widespread rain continues across various districts of Tamil Nadu, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing an alert for possible heavy rainfall along the coastal areas.
An orange alert has been declared for Viluppuram, Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam districts, and the Union Territory of Pondicherry. As a result, schools and all other educational institutions have been declared closed for today.
The formation of a low-pressure area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal, stemming from a cyclonic circulation over the Gulf of Thailand, is anticipated today. This system is expected to move west-northwestwards, intensifying into a Depression over Central and adjoining South Bay of Bengal by November 16, as stated by the IMD.
Isolated heavy rainfall is also predicted over Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry from November 14-16, and over Kerala during the same period.
