Kozhikode: The state is once again grappling with the menace of loan app threats as a housewife in Kuttyadi, Kozhikode, tried to take her own life under the pressure of a loan app. The 25-year-old mother of two was rushed to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital following the incident.
The woman had initially borrowed Rs. 2000 through a loan app, but even after repaying one lakh rupees through gold pledges, she continued to face threats. Morphed nude pictures were sent to her phone when she failed to make further payments. The distressed housewife revealed that the loan app representatives threatened to disseminate these images through social media.
The distressing messages from the loan app intensified when it was communicated that there were no funds available. Subsequently, the woman’s WhatsApp profile picture was morphed into explicit images, which were then forwarded to her phone. The victim, a mother of two children, is currently receiving medical attention at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. Further details about her health condition are not yet disclosed by the medical authorities.
