IDUKKI: Mariyakutty is set to approach the Adimali Court today over false propaganda following her protest against the Kerala government for its failure to disburse social welfare pension.
On November 8, she protested in Adimaly Town, Idukki district, holding a begging pot and claimed that the Kerala government had forced her into a situation of begging.
Following this, CPI(M) activists spread false news, asserting that Mariyakutty was ineligible for social welfare pension due to owning acres of land and two houses. Mariyakutty also reported that some CPI(M) activists attacked her residence, attributing her protest to damaging the CPI(M) party’s image.
In response to this, on November 13, Mariyakutty submitted an application to the Village Office to verify any land ownership under her name. She also stated her intention to seek legal support against those propagating false information about her.
Subsequently, the communist party mouthpiece, Deshabhimani newspaper, which published the fake news, issued an apology note on November 15, 2023, retracting their earlier publication claiming Mariyakutty owned acres of land and two houses.
In light of these events, Mariyakutty said that she will approach the Adimali Court today, seeking legal action against those who spread false news about her.
