IDUKKI: Actor and BJP leader Suresh Gopi visited Mariyakutty’s residence. Suresh Gopi extended his full support to Mariyakutty. Suresh Gopi visited her house along with the local BJP leaders.

Suresh Gopi said that Mariyakutty has all right to protest for her pension. He added, not only any political party has right to protest.

Suresh Gopi and Mariyakutty talked for while and then he said the media that not to publish what they have talked emotionally. He then questioned that the Kerala government had imposed a social security cess of Rs 2 each on petrol and diesel, but not disbursing for the poor.

Suresh Gopi accused CPI(M) of spreading fake news, alleging that the central government is withholding funds from Kerala. Meanwhile BJP leader and actor Krishna Kumar assured that financial aid from his side to Mariyakutty.

Mariyakutty was recently targeted by Deshabhimani (CPI(M) mouthpiece) newspaper and CPI(M) activists for her protest against the Kerala government for not disbursing social welfare pension. On November 8, Mariyakutty staged a protest in Adimaly Town, Idukki district, holding a begging pot and claimed that the Kerala government had forced her into a situation of begging.

Followed by Deshabhimani newspaper published Mariyakutty was ineligible for social welfare pension by alleging that she owns acres of land and two houses. Subsequently, CPI(M) activists, influenced by the fake news, targeted her on social media and even attacked her residence, attributing her protest to damaging the CPI(M) party’s image.

In response to this, on November 13, Mariyakutty submitted an application to the Village Office to verify any land ownership under her name.

Subsequently, Deshabhimani newspaper, published an apology note on November 15, 2023, retracting their earlier published fake news on Mariyakutty.  In this situation, Mariyakutty said that she will approach the Adimali Court today, seeking legal action against those who spread false news about her.
