Kochi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has disclosed that Deshabhimani, the official mouthpiece of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), is implicated in the ongoing Karuvannur Co-operative Bank scam case. This revelation comes on the heels of the ED’s initiation of an investigation into high-ranking individuals connected to the case.
According to the ED’s findings, Deshabhimani Publications has received funds from P Satish Kumar during the financial years 2015–2016. The ED report indicates that the funds were transferred in two installments, totaling Rs.36 lakhs, with Deshabhimani Publications reportedly receiving Rs.18 lakhs on two separate occasions. ED also claims that they have evidence to substantiate the financial dealings.
The ED’s announcement sheds light on the complex web of financial dealings surrounding the Karuvannur Bank case, bringing into question the integrity of Deshabhimani, a prominent media outlet associated with the CPI(M). It is anticipated that additional information related to the incident will come to light, providing further insight into the extent of Deshabhimani’s role in the Karuvannur Co-operative Bank scam.
