Thiruvananthapuram: An interesting revelation has emerged in the ongoing investigation into the Youth Congress’s creation of fake voter’s ID cards for organisational elections. The police have discovered that a fake ID card was produced in the name of renowned Tamil actor Ajith for use in the organisation’s electoral process. The fake voter’s ID card, featuring Ajith’s photograph, was found on the phone of Abhi Vikram, one of the individuals apprehended in connection with the case.
It remains uncertain whether this fake card was employed in the election proceedings. Following the creation of these cards, the accused distributed them to various individuals through WhatsApp. To ascertain the extent of its impact, clarification can only be obtained if the central authority of the Youth Congress, responsible for conducting the elections, releases server information. The police have issued a notice for this purpose, although the availability of such data is uncertain.
About 2 lakh cards were rejected by the software developed for the election process. The police also revealed that there were similar cards bearing the names of other celebrities, including Ajith. The cyber department is actively investigating this matter, as disclosed by the police.
The police arrested Youth Congress workers Abhi Vikram, Binil Binu, Fenni Nainan, and Vikas Krishnan in connection with the case. All four accused hail from the Adoor constituency in Pathanamthitta. They were reportedly working closely with Rahul Mamkutathil, the state president of the Youth Congress. Abhi Vikram was apprehended in Pathanamthitta, while Fenni, Binil, Binu, and Vikas were taken into custody in Thiruvananthapuram.
