THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Yesterday evening around 4:30 pm in Oyoor, Kollam district, a six-year-old girl was kidnapped, prompting the police to release a sketch of the suspect kidnapper. The police also informed that the sketch of the woman connected to the kidnapping will be released soon.
Around 7 pm last night, three hours after the child went missing, the mother received a call demanding a ransom of Rs 5 lakh from an unknown number.
The police investigation, following the phone call lead, reached a shop in Parippally, Kollam district. There, the shopkeeper informed the police that a woman and a man purchased a biscuit packet and trickily asked the shopkeeper’s wife Girija for a mobile phone, claiming her own was not working and she needed to contact home to finalize their shopping list. The woman walked away from the shop, made a call, and returned the phone.
But the shopkeepers were unaware that they had made the call to the mother of the missing child. Based on the information from the shopkeeper, the police released the man’s sketch.
