WAYANAD: PV Anwar, MLA, inaugurated eight roads meant for construction in the Wayanad constituency. The roads were originally scheduled for inauguration by Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi.

In violation of a circular released by the Ministry of Rural Development, the LDF MLA, PV Anwar, inaugurated the construction of 8 Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Roads in Nilambur.

Initially, it was planned for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to inaugurate the construction of the PMGSY roads at the Nilambur Block Panchayat. However, bypassing this scheduled plan, LDF MLA Anwar inaugurated the program yesterday evening, triggering discontent among members of the Congress party in the region.

The Congress accused PV Anwar’s actions of displaying political bankruptcy and political illiteracy. Party members cited a circular from the Union Ministry of Rural Development that stipulates only MPs should inaugurate PMGSY roads.

In response to this sparking controversy, Anwar accused the Congress of playing political games by inviting Rahul Gandhi for the inauguration.

Following the controversy, several posts on social media alleged both the LDF and Congress of taking credit for various developmental projects initiated by the Central government. This time, Anwar seized the opportunity to inaugurate the event ahead of Rahul Gandhi, contrary to the Union Ministry’s directive.

Adding one more milestone in the journey towards the development of Kerala, Shri @RahulGandhi inaugurated the Ambalappadi-Valamppuram-Kottanpara road built under PMGSY at Karulai Town, Karulai Grama Panchayat, Nilambur LAC, Malappuram today. pic.twitter.com/qmweHYuP5X
