THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ABVP welcomed the Supreme Court’s verdict that quashed the re-appointment of Dr. Gopinath Ravindran as the Vice Chancellor of Kannur University. NCT Sreehari, the ABVP Kerala state Secretary, expressed that this decision was a setback for the Kerala government’s practice of making backdoor appointments, favouritism, and promoting nepotism.
The ABVP had criticized the Kerala government for disregarding UGC rules in appointing Dr. Gopinath Ravindran as the VC of Kannur University. Sreehari emphasized that this violation of UGC regulations at Kannur University was not an isolated incident.
Additionally, Sreehari pointed out that previously, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan had not approved Dr. Gopinath Ravindran’s re-appointment. Despite the Governor’s objection, the LDF government re-appointed him as the VC.
Sreehari responded following the Supreme Court’s verdict to quash Dr. Gopinath Ravindran’s re-appointment as the Vice Chancellor of Kannur University today.
