Kochi: In a scathing criticism against the Chief Minister and the Nava Kerala Sadas, the High Court of Kerala asked why children were made to stand on roads like ‘Cheer Girls’ to greet the CM and other ministers.

According to a report, the High Court made this observation, yesterday, while it was considering a plea against the order issued by Malappuram District Deputy Education Director, which had ordered the presence of school children during Nava Kerala Sadas. The plea was submitted earlier by MSF State President, PK Nawaz.

The report said that the Additional Advocate General told the court that the order of Deputy Education Director was withdrawn on November 20. However, the petitioner informed the court that similar incident had taken place the other day, even after the order was withdrawn.

The report also said that when it was revealed in court that the government had asked for an explanation from the Headmaster of the school, the court asked why no action was taken against the deputy director. The court also ordered that such incidents must not be repeated again.

The decision to make students stand by the roadside under the hot sun just to greet the CM and his ministers riding on a bus had come under severe criticism from all quarters.
