Thiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram First Class Judicial Magistrate Court has handed down a verdict in the case involving MP AA Rahim and M Swaraj, who were implicated in the violent disturbances that ensued during an assembly march against the Oommen Chandy government. The court has sentenced both individuals to one year of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs one lakh.
The charges stem from the violence that erupted during an SFI-led march protesting the education policies of the UDF government. The Museum police had filed a case for public vandalism following the escalation of protests into acts of violence. About 150 activists participated in the demonstration on that march.
