Alappuzha: A complaint has been raised against CPI(M) Ambalapuzha Area Committee Member Prashanth S Kutty who stopped a KSRTC Swift bus from travelling further. The driver of the bus who questioned the CPI(M) leader was beaten up by him and few other CPI(M) activists. They also tried to assault the police officer who tried to stop them. A case has been registered by the Ambalapuzha police in the incident.

The bus employees stated that when the SWIFT bus from Palakkad to Thiruvananthapuram reached Paravur Alappuzha, CPI(M) leader Prashanth did not allow the KSRTC bus to overtake his car. When the vehicles stopped near Vandanam Medical College, the bus driver questioned this. Later the bus moved ahead of Prashanth’s car. But, Prashanth chased the bus and stopped it. The driver of the bus was beaten up by him and other CPI(M) activists who were called by Prashanth to aid him. Prashanth and his gang tried to assault the policeman also, who rushed to stop the conflict.

As the conflict escalated, the passengers were asked to get down from the bus. They were sent in other buses to their destinations. Allegations were also raised that the police have filed a case with weak charges in the incident. The Swift bus driver who was assaulted by Prashanth and his gang has sought medical treatment.
