New Delhi: According to the latest report from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Kerala has the highest number of cases under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005. Out of the 468 cases registered nationwide last year, 376 cases were reported from Kerala alone. Following Kerala on the list are Jharkhand with 67 cases and Madhya Pradesh with 10 cases. Only a handful of cases were reported in other regions across the country.
The report indicates that Kerala has 5,094 cases related to cruelty by husbands or their families. 12 deaths were reported due to dowry-related issues. According to this report, Kerala is the fourth state in terms of reported suicides nationwide. Kerala also ranks third in the country for nighttime accidents, as outlined in the NCRB report.
