Kottayam: More people have come up with complaints that they have lost money in the case of Youth Congress leader extorting money by offering jobs. Five people have filed a police complaint against Youth Congress leader Anand Vettikal. Police said that Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,60,000 was extorted from each person. Another Youth Congress leader is also suspected to be involved in the incident.
Police had arrested Pathanamthitta Youth Congress leader Aravind Vettikal yesterday in a case of extorting money by offering a job to an Alappuzha native. Immediately after this, five more people complained to the police that they had been scammed in a similar manner. The police said that he first demanded Rs 3 lakh from the people and then took Rs 50,000 as an advance.
They were also offered the job of receptionist at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital. But there was no receptionist post in Kottayam Medical College. The letter was signed by the Youth Congress leader himself, pretending to be the Section Officer of Kottayam Medical College. Police informed that another Youth Congress leader is also suspected to be involved in the incident and he is being interrogated.
