Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert following the formation of a cyclone in the Arabian Sea, forecasting rainfall in the state over the next few days. A yellow alert has been announced today in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, and Wayanad.
Tomorrow, the yellow alert will expand to five districts. The IMD forecasts rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within a 24-hour period. In light of this, the IMD has strongly advised fishermen against venturing into the sea until 11:30 PM tonight due to the likelihood of powerful waves and potential sea attacks along the Kerala coast.
Earlier forecasts from the IMD indicated the likelihood of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning across the state in the upcoming days.
