Wayanad: In response to the tragic tiger attack in Sultan Bathery, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) has pledged swift financial assistance to the family of Prajeesh (36), who lost his life in the incident. The DFO also informed plans to submit a comprehensive report to the government, advocating for employment support for one of the deceased’s family members.

Addressing the situation, the DFO outlined a series of measures, including the installation of Tiger Fencing at the Vakeri forest boundary where the attack occurred. Additionally, a detailed report will be submitted to the Chief Wildlife Officer, urging the declaration of the tiger as a man-eater. Private landowners in the area will be instructed to clear the forest to mitigate future risks.

The victim, Prajeesh (36), a resident of Vakeri Koodallur, Moodakkolli, fell prey to a tiger attack. His lifeless body, partially consumed by the tiger, was discovered in a residential area. Reports indicate that Prajeesh had ventured into the paddy fields in the afternoon to collect grass for his cattle. Locals reported previous tiger sightings in the area.
