Kottayam : The cremation ceremony of CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran took place at the premises of his residence with official honors. The funeral proceedings concluded by 11:30 a.m., with his son Sandeep leading the last rites and lighting the pyre in a solemn tribute.

Eminent leaders, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPI National Secretary D. Raja, paid their respects directly to Kanam. Yesterday, Kanam’s body was brought to his Kottayam residence in a solemn procession following a public homage at the Pattom PS memorial, CPI headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram. Several ministers and leaders from various political parties assembled at the residence to offer their condolences.

Kanam Rajendran passed away due to a heart attack while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kochi. He served as the CPI’s state secretary for eight years and also served as MLA for two terms.
