Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning, predicting heavy rainfall at isolated places in the state over the next three days.
Today, a yellow alert has been declared in five districts, including Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur. The Meteorological Department cautions that strong winds with gusts of 30 to 40 km per hour are expected from December 10 to 12. Additionally, the Meteorological Department clarified that there is no fishing ban along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts during this period.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Centre has issued a warning, indicating a possibility of high waves and storm surges along the southern Tamil Nadu coast until 11:30 tonight.
For the safety of fishermen and coastal residents, the following precautions are advised:
- Avoid visits to the beach entirely.
- Evacuate following the instructions of local authorities due to the potential risk of a sea attack.
- Secure fishing boats by tying them up, ensuring an appropriate distance between vessels.
